Ralf Jungmann becomes EMBO member
Physicist Ralf Jungmann was selected for membership of this prestigious organization along with 68 other researchers.
Ralf Jungmann, a leading international expert in the field of high-resolution microscopy, has been elected as a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO). EMBO brings together more than 2,100 outstanding scientists from Europe and around the world. Its goal is to promote talented researchers at all stages of their careers, strengthen international scientific exchange, and create an outstanding research environment in Europe.

The Max Planck Fellow is a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry and professor of molecular physics of life at the LMU. With the DNA PAINT method he has developed, he has established a novel technique for single-molecule analysis that makes it possible to visualize biological structures with unprecedented spatial resolution—a groundbreaking advance for basic research and biomedical applications. His work is shaping the field of research at the interface of physics, biology, and nanotechnology worldwide.
He will be formally admitted to the EMBO together with 68 other researchers from 18 member states at the next members' meeting in Heidelberg in October.
"Being accepted into EMBO is a great honor for me and at the same time an incentive to further advance interdisciplinary research between physics and life sciences. I am particularly looking forward to the scientific exchange with EMBO members and the opportunity to specifically promote young talents," says Jungmann.
