We are currently looking for postdoctoral fellows with a PhD in biochemistry, genetics, computational biology, or related fields, and a strong interest in combining experimental and computational approaches to understand how fundamental cellular processes are coordinated in vivo. Prior experience in RNA biology, high-throughput sequencing, proteomics, or the analysis of large-scale datasets would be advantageous, but is not strictly required. We are particularly interested in applicants who have demonstrated creative thinking and a high degree of independence in the past, and have a strong desire to pursue multidisciplinary projects and develop novel experimental tools. We seek to appoint enthusiastic early-career scientists to join interdisciplinary projects on the regulation of gene expression in eukaryotic cells. We are looking for candidates who enjoy working in a dynamic international environment and are passionate about solving fundamental problems in biology.
The available projects will combine diverse high-throughput approaches to dissect how events during mRNA translation guide protein structure acquisition in cells. Our research is funded by the Max Planck Society, the European Research Council, and the DFG.
We are located at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, one of the world’s leading research institutes in molecular and cell biology. With its 25 research groups and a staff of more than 850 scientists, the institute offers an outstanding research environment with in-house facilities for next-generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics, and imaging. Our laboratory is also part of the Department of Chemistry at the Technical University of Munich.
The successful applicants will receive an appointment with a competitive salary (TVöD E13, 70% – public tariff scale) and benefit from opportunities for additional training and attendance of international conferences. The position are fully funded for three years (extendable to four).
Applicants should hold a Master’s degree or a similar qualification in a field of life sciences. Previous experience in RNA biology, next-generation sequencing, or mass spectrometry is advantageous but not required.
