Emma Ryhänen graduated as MSc in Genetics and Molecular Biosciences from University of Helsinki (UH) in 2023, after which she pursued a second MSc degree in Bioinformatics and Digital Health at Aalto University completed in 2024. Alongside her studies, she conducted her thesis work in the research groups of Prof. Timo Otonkoski and Dr. Anna Vähärautio focusing on human pancreatic development, stem cell and cancer biology. In the Tachibana lab, Emma is pursuing her PhD studying gene regulatory mechanisms of totipotency reprogramming with a multidisciplinary approach combining developmental genomics and bioinformatics. Outside of the lab, she enjoys spending her free time outdoors running, hiking and snowboarding.
