Funding

Our group is part of the 
MaxSynBio Max Planck Research Network in Synthetic Biology and funded by the German 
Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Our Origin of Life Research is supported by the funding initiative 
"Life? – A fresh scientific approach to the basic principles of life" of the 
Volkswagen Foundation and the 
CRC 235 Emergence of Life. As of January 2019, our research about RNA-based bacterial life is funded by an 
ERC Starting Grant.
