Ludo Vici - The skin of the tree, the vastness and the breath

December 09, 2020

Ludo Vici:

“2020 brought for all of us high levels of irritation and restriction. As for me, as a filmmaker and actor, with the first lockdown all my projects and plans vanished into thin air, I had to look for new ways and so I started to take pictures again. I took my photo camera and walked into the nature.

I took my photo camera and walked into the nature. The encounter with nature is of great importance for me, especially in difficult times. This encounter leads me away from assessment, judgement and distress and opens myself to contemplation and amazement. The standstill  always offers the chance for contemplation, hence, independently from each other three themes emerged, which in combination contemplate this exhibition.

Fascinating close ups of the skin of the trees. Structures, faulting and faces. Above the sky so clear and transparent like it was never seen here before and in opposite below in the tunnel people with masks, strange and creepy. A picture of breathlessness.

The combination of these three motifs is a visual echo of the corona crisis. Without any judgement the exhibition is about the mystery of nature and the human kind as a part of it.”

You can see the exhibition from 02.12.2020 to 31.01.2021 in the foyer of building S. Due to the current situation, the exhibition is not open to external visitors and is only accessible to employees of the biochemistry and neurobiology departments.
