Eva Kessler's works invite us to rediscover everyday life and the people of this world. In her exhibition “Faces of the World,” she portrays numerous well-known personalities as well as anonymous faces from everyday life. Reality and emotion, representationalism and abstraction merge into a distinctive expression.
Her style ranges between abstract, figurative painting and pop art. Colors play the leading role: bright, bold, dynamic. With brush and palette knife, she creates spontaneous structures that make the energy and vitality of her subjects tangible. But Eva Kessler also surprises with minimalist black-and-white works in which expressiveness arises entirely from contrasts and nuances.
“For me, color is energy, but its absence also tells stories,” says Kessler. “Whether colorful or black and white, what matters is the emotion that the viewer feels.”
Thus, “Faces of the World” presents a multifaceted collection that shows people and their forms of expression in all their diversity—powerful, lively, and touching.
