About the artists

Michael Steinborn
It all started in 1958 with his first attempts with his father's “Vitessa”. Then came his first own camera, the “Fotavit 24x24”. As part of Mr. Steinborn's training as a materials tester, “Leica M 2” with various lenses followed as well as the independent work in the laboratory (developing & making prints in b/w), as well as macro- and microscopic work on an optical bench. This turned part of his profession into a hobby, which it has remained for the artist to this day. Macro photography and experiments with light and color are the focus of Mr. Steinborn's work; b/w photography in medium format (6x6) is not neglected.

Mr. Steinborn has been a member of the Foto- und Filmclub Fürstenfeldbruck e.V. for over 20 years where he has a fully equipped photo lab at his disposal for his work. The photographer has also been a member of the Association for the Promotion of Culture among Olching Artists (“OK”).

Karlheinz (Charly) Frey

Karlheinz ‘Charly’ Frey, a true Munich native born in 1955, initially trained as an electronics technician and later went on to study precision engineering (Dipl.-Ing. FH.

Today, the artist, who has lived in Olching since 1968, only works “on things he enjoys” and on “high-priority commissions from his family environment”.

After many years of involvement as an author and lyricist with stage presence in various projects, the co-founder of the Olching Strong Beer Festival came up with the idea of dealing with the subject of string art during the ‘Corona - Dark Phase’. He has been very attached to this technique ever since.

Karlheinz Charly Frey has been a member of the Olching artists' circle “OK” since 2022.
