Reconstruction and modernization of the energy supply (EVA)
Future-proof power supply for the Max Planck Campus in Martinsrie
Since the turn of the year 2024/2025, construction work and gravel pits have been visible at various locations on our Max Planck Campus: a fail-safe power supply is being created for the two Max Planck Institutes of Biochemistry and Biological Intelligence.

The existing medium-voltage switchgear is outdated and needs to be replaced. A total of five new medium-voltage substations will be built to ensure a sustainable power supply and distribution of electrical energy within our institutes. The new Max Planck Campus will be connected to the existing network at a later date.
At various points on the campus, construction equipment is being used and storage areas are being created for equipment, vehicles, building materials and containers. In some cases, trees will be moved or cleared, and the necessary mitigation measures will be implemented in consultation with the relevant authorities.
In March 2025, work will begin to lay cables to connect the EVA stations. As a result, there will be lane restrictions on the southern and eastern sides of the institutes on the bypass road.
Visible construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
