The Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry in Martinsried near Munich is one of the leading international research institutions in the fields of biochemistry, cell and structural biology, and biomedical research. With 25 scientific departments and research groups and around 750 employees, it is one of the largest institutes of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science e.V.

We are looking for a Head (m/f/d) of Internal Communications and Social Media in the Team Public Relations. The position is initially limited to two years, a permanent position is possible and expressly desired. Part-time work is possible in principle. The Public Relations team is currently in the process of adapting to the new requirements in science communication. You will organise this together with the Head of External Communication.

Your tasks

  • Support, develop, and generate content for the internet and intranet pages
  • Develop, administer, and generate content for the social media presence
  • Increase internal communication, corporate identity, and community spirit
  • Increase the international visibility of the institute
  • Event management
  • Support the Executive Management and the scientific working groups in the area of public relations
  • Management, organisation, and planning for the public relations team

Our requirements

  • Completed university degree, preferably in the fields of natural sciences, science communication, or related qualification
  • Professional and management experience in the field of public relations, ideally in biomedical research
  • You are structured, organised, think strategically and set priorities
  • You have a high degree of independence, initiative, and coordination skills
  • You enjoy working in a team
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Very good German
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office is a prerequisite, familiarity with content management systems and the Adobe Creative Suite is an advantage
