The "Distinguished Visitor Lecture Series" invites outstanding scientists from all over the world to the MPIB to present their work. Many Nobel Prize winners, as well as young rising stars who later became leaders in their field have visited us over the last years in the course of this lecture series.
All graduate students are encouraged to make suggestions for whom to invite. Once a year a committee consisting of the representative members of the graduate program, but also the post-doc association and group leaders discusses all suggestions and establishes a final invitation list covering all scientific topics that are important and interesting for the institute.
Invited scientists are encouraged to visit the departments and meet the researchers working there. We organize a “beer and brezn” get together after each talk as well as informal lunch and dinners where students have the chance to interact directly with the scientific “big-shots”.
In 2015, the series is organized by Gosia Poczopko, Neysan Donnelly and Claudio Lademann.
