The education and promotion of young scientists is an essential aim of the Max Planck Society and has, besides basic research, high priority at the Institute. This is also reflected by the large number of PhD students currently working here: about 200. The Institute offers special programs for them. The Graduate Program (GP), a network of PhDs, represents their interests and organizes courses, lecture series and other events especially for PhD students. There is also the possibility to do a PhD thesis at the International Max Planck Research School for Molecular Life Sciences (IMPRS-LS), a special program of the Max Planck Institutes of Biochemistry, Neurobiology and Psychiatry, the Ludwig Maximilian University and the Technical University Munich.
