to the IVS-BM, the central Information Retrieval Services for the Institutes and Research Groups of the Biology & Medicine Section of the Max Planck Society (MPS). We are a team of scientists and information specialists located at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, dedicated towards helping researchers, librarians, administrators and decision-makers within the MPS to access, explore and exploit the wealth of scientific information resources available worldwide.

Our services include:

Providing Access to Databases
We help select, adapt and integrate numerous scientific information resources available within the MPS via the Max Planck Virtual Library (vLib) and other powerful retrieval systems (Ovid, WoK, CSA etc.).
Performing Searches and Analyses
We have exclusive access to additional databases and tools to perform professional-level searches and reliable bibliometric analyses tailored to the specific purpose.
User Support and Training
We offer seminars, workshops, training materials and consultation to assist staff and guests of the MPS in making more efficient use of important information resources and tools in the areas of scientific literature and bioinformatics.

Citation Analyses and Impact Factors
Bibliographic Management
We help to optimize the use of bibliographic management systems such as EndNote or Reference Manager for building, maintaining and sharing collections of important references.
Providing Sci-Info Links
Links to further Max Planck information service units, committees and to activities relevant to scientific communication (e.g. Open Access).
