We are looking for motivated and creative group members who are interested in reconstituting cellular processes in vitro using recombinant-expressed proteins and artificial membranes, such as supported lipid bilayers and unilamellar vesicles. We are applying protein purification procedures that are commonly used in x-ray crystallography. As part of the research projects, expressed and purified proteins will also be crystallized in order to solve their x-ray crystal structures.

We are always inviting PhD students to join our lab and to work at the fascinating interface of cell biology, structural biology, and biophysics. We are offering projects with a broad range of techniques, providing excellent training opportunities.

Positions for Postdocs with a strong background in structural biology, biophysics, and/or cell biology are currently available. We are offering a postdoctoral training that facilitates interdisciplinary research within the stimulating environment of the MPI of Biochemistry, providing excellent opportunities for an independent future research career.
