1997-2001: PhD with Dr. Regine Kahmann at the Ludwig-Maximilians University, Munich, Germany and the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology, Marburg, Germany.

2002-2005: Postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Rong Li at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA.

Since 2005: Independent junior group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry, Munich, Germany.
