INSTRUCT - An Integrated Structural Biology Infrastructure for Europe
INSTRUCT is an initiative of structural biologists, supported by the European Commission (EC) in its preparatory phase (
www.instruct-fp7.eu). Its aim is to develop a strategy to build a pan-European Infrastructure in the broad context of structural biology to maintain the European competitiveness and to provide access to state of the art infrastructure for the European structural biology research community at large.
The meeting is open to the entire community of structural biology to discuss the needs, future developments and challenges and possible accessibility of infrastructure such as high throughput methods in protein production, NMR, X-ray crystallography, mass spectrometry and electron microscopy.
The present organisational structure of INSTRUCT comprises 13 partners and 77 Associate Members. Support from 29 major national funding bodies from 18 European countries has been secured and 20 working groups have been formulated to undertake evaluation of the status quo and identify future infrastructural requirements.
