Library regulations
The library is a reference library. Whoever uses the library accepts the conditions laid down by the regulations.
1. General conditions
- Members of the Institutes of Biochemistry and Neurobiology, as well as guests staying in the guesthouse, can use the library after hours if they have an institute card, and when they have taken part in an official tour of the library. (This regulation is not valid for short-term guests of the institutes).
- During opening hours the library is available for all those who have a particular interest in the library holdings. External guests, as well as visitors to the institutes, must check in at the information desk in the library.
- There are study rooms available for institute members, which can be used for a longer period of time according to prior arrangement. Please contact the information desk.
- Please leave your coats in the cloak room, put your bags in the lockers and take only what is necessary (writing materials, notebooks etc.) into the reading rooms. No responsibility is taken for personal property brought into the library.
- Smoking, eating and drinking, or adverse use of the library are not allowed. The directives of the library staff must be followed.
2. Use of library materials / borrowing
- The contents of the library are divided into journals, periodicals, reference works and books, and are positioned in the central area, in the magazines T and A and in departmental libraries. Part of the holdings can be borrowed and the rest are for reference only.
- Books marked with a red dot, journals (bound and unbound), newspapers, reference works and loose-leaf collections may only be used in the library.
- The holdings in magazine A are not directly available. They have to be ordered in advance.
- Members of the institutes and visitors of the guesthouse can borrow books for four weeks. The books can be renewed on request. Please do not forget to fill in the lending slip and to bring the books back punctually.
- Borrowed books must remain on the campus and may not be taken home.
- After use the books must be returned to their proper place on the shelf according to their place mark. Unbound journals must be put back in their boxes. All library materials must be treated with care. The user is liable for any damages.
3. Photocopiers / Computers
- There are several photocopiers available for photocopying per code (members of the institute) or copycard (for prices see table). The user is responsible for adhering to the copyright law when copying out of books or journals, and when using digital media.
- The computers and the internet access in the library are exclusively for scientific purposes. Please do not change the presettings on the computers.
4. Commencement
- The regulations were drawn up by the library commission and come into effect immediately. They replace the regulations of March 2003.
