Using Library Equipment
The library provides 8 computers that can be used for literature search and scientific work. All computers can only be accessed by institutional or guest account .
Four computers - two in the back of the reading room, two downstairs - are for members of the MPI Biochemistry who have an account in the Computing Centre of the MPIB
Members of MPI Neurobiology have to use the two computers located at the library's panorama window with their own account to get direct access to the intranet of their own institute.
Guests can use the internet with the other two computers in the back of the reading room or with their own notebook via WLAN. Guest accounts - passport or ID card provided - can be obtained in the library.
It is also possible to use private notebooks in the reading room (WLAN).
Off-site access via VPN (only for members of the institutes)
The mpibLAN is protected by a firewall so that direct access to particular services (e.g. EJournals) of the Library of the Max Planck Institutes Martinsried is not possible.
To use VPN connections you need a user name (unix user name and password) and you must install the client. To find out more please contact the
Computing Centre or use this link

The library provides 2 photocopiers available for copying per code (members of the institutes) or copycard (1,60 € / 5,70 € ).
The copiers, both with an integrated scanner, will produce PDF files for free which can be sent through email.
One more scanner is connected to the PCs.
