IOP/New Journal of Physics
New Journal of Physics is an Open Access journal co-owned by the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft und Institute of Physics (IOP). Max Planck Society entered into the agreement in 2006. For further details please refer to their website or this Press Release.
Public Library of Science (PLoS)
The agreement between the Max Planck Society and PLoS refers to all articles where a Max Planck scientists is the corresponding author and which were accepted for publication in a PLoS journal after July, 1st, 2008. For further details please refer to this Press Release
Springer 2008 - 2009
Springer is a hybrid publisher with an Open Access scheme entitled
Open Choice. Articles published under this scheme, which is based on publications fee, are Open Access even so the journal is toll access (c.p. hybrid journal, Golden Road). In the beginning of 2008 Max Planck Society entered into a combined agreement with Springer including both the costs for subscriptions and the Open Access scheme. Press Release
Details for the publication of articles of authors affiliated with Max Planck Society at Springer's Open Choice Program
As part of the 2008-2009 agreement between the Max Planck Society and Springer, any author affiliated with a Max Planck Institute was entitled to publish his/her journal articles open access in Springer's Open Choice program at no additional costs. This applied to all journal articles which were accepted by Springer between January 1st, 2008 and December 31st, 2009. The agreement concerning Open Choice did not extend to articles in Springer book serials.
Even though the agreement between the Max Planck Society and Springer ended on December 31st , 2009, authors whose articles were accepted between January 1st , 2008 and December 31st , 2009 still have the possibility to obtain Open Choice status for these articles.
