Description

Mendeley is both a desktop and a web reference management program for managing and sharing research papers. It combines Mendeley Desktop, a PDF and reference management application with Mendeley Web, an online social network for researchers.

Additional Information
  • Mendeley Desktop and Mendeley Web come as a package but partly offer different functions, e.g. import of references in Mendeley Web via Web Importer, in Mendeley Desktop other import functions available ➩ synchronization is important!
  • For creating bibliographies you must use Mendeley Desktop ➩ synchronizing your library is essentiell for effictive work
  • To Implement Open URL for finding full text via the MPG-SFX-Service go to your Mendeley Web Account, choose Account details and there Sharing / Importing. You can add the library access link http://sfx.mpg.de/sfx_local manually and set it as default
  • Web Importer to import references and documents from several databases
  • Mendeley is also available for iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch
  • Papers can be shared via Facebook, Twitter and Email
What we like
  • Synchronizes desktop to web and reverse
  • Saves PDF files and extracts bibliographic data automatically
  • Missing metadata can be amended automatically
What we miss
  • Without internet connection no possibility to install further output styles
  • Subfolders are not reflected on Mendeley Web yet - all files get listed in the top-level folder
  • Recently imported references are not marked sufficiently
