Information Retrieval Services (IVS-BM)

Access to Databases

The IVS-BM, together with other relevant groups within the Max Planck Society (i.e. the IVS-CPT, MPDL, and the MPI Libraries),carries responsibility for the selection, adaption and integration of numerous literature databases and other scientific information resources available to MPG staff and guests.

Access to most of the resources is restricted to persons in authorized sites of the MPG. For some of the resources, remote access via User ID and Password is also available. If you need assistance, please contact us.

For getting started

vLib

The  vLib interface allows users to identify and access relevant resources available in the MPG. Simultaneous searching across several selected resources is possible. The integrated MPG-SFX service allows seamless navigation from a reference found in a database to the respective full-text or to additional relevant information from other resources.

For more advanced searching

Nearly all the reference databases centrally licensed by the Max Planck Society are searchable via the vLib interface. You may, however, also access these resources directly via the more advanced "original" interfaces listed below. The database-specific features of these interfaces will enable you to enhance the precision and recall of your search results (see Database Support). Context-sensitive MPG-SFX Services have been added whenever possible.
