Our goal is to understand the molecular mechanisms of gene transcription and the cellular principlesunderlying transcription regulation on a systems level. We use structural biology to elucidate the three-dimensional architecture of large macromolecular complexes. Functional assays provide mechanistic insights. Functional genomics and computational biology unravel the principles of genomic regulation on a systems level. We are based at the Gene Center of the University of Munich (LMU).
