The laboratory focuses on structure determination of macromolecular assemblies by integrating different types of experimental data, primarily from biophysical and biochemical techniques. By means of modeling we determine all protein configurations, which are consistent with the given input data. Specifically, we are interested in providing a structural description of processes at cell membranes, in particular protein degradation and translocation. Towards this goal we develop computational algorithms in the fields of assembly modeling and image processing (cryo-electron tomography, CET).
